Medical Marijuana Could Be Coming To Alabama Sooner Than You Think!

In Alabama, a budding medical marijuana program is in the works and much further in legislation than it has ever been! Here at Alabama Marijuana Card, you can have access to all the information you need regarding all things medical marijuana in the state.

This month, the House Health committee approved SB46 after weighing both sides of the medical marijuana issue at a public hearing. This bill would potentially make medical marijuana treatment legal for ten different qualifying conditions including cancer, HIV/AIDS, autism and epilepsy. These are some of the most common conditions that are often seen on other state’s qualifying conditions list from medical marijuana treatment.

The bill is somewhat progressive in the fact that it includes autism, which has been up for debate in some states. But on the other hand, the committee specifically removed menopause and PMS which is not progressive at all and, in fact, is very restrictive to women’s health issues.

This public hearing came with a lot of debate as you can imagine. The opposing side brought up issues they had against making a medical marijuana program legal in Alabama. They included that they believe marijuana to be addictive and that the scientific evidence is “bad science.”

We know that medical marijuana is a safe and effective treatment to use and we believe that Alabama residents have the right to the health care of their choice!
