Benefits of Having an Alabama Marijuana Card

With medical cannabis now legal in the majority of states across the United States, more patients are turning to marijuana for treatment of their medical conditions. If you are considering obtaining your Alabama medical marijuana card, here are some of the benefits of being a card holder.

What Are The Benefits Of Having A Marijuana Card?

1. Medicinal Benefits of Cannabis

Marijuana has the potential to help alleviate symptoms for a wide variety of medical conditions. Medical cannabis can provide relief for common conditions including chronic pain, PTSD, glaucoma, epilepsy and more.

In the majority of states where medical marijuana is legalized, there are specific medical conditions that qualify an individual to be eligible for treatment. The qualifying conditions in Alabama include the following:

  • Anxiety

  • Autism

  • Cancer

  • Chronic pain

  • Crohn’s disease

  • Epilepsy

  • Fibromyalgia

  • HIV/AIDS

  • Motor neuron disease

  • Multiple sclerosis

  • Nausea

  • PTSD

  • Sleep disorders

  • Spinal cord injury

  • Terminal illness

  • Tourette’s Syndrome

  • Weight loss

2. Access Dispensaries

With a medical marijuana card, you will be able to visit licensed dispensaries throughout Alabama and purchase products. While dispensaries are not yet open, once they begin operating, Alabama card holders will be able to possess up to 70 daily doses not over 75 mg of THC.

3. Legal Protection

Being a medical marijuana patient allows you to legally possess, transport and consume medical marijuana in the state of Alabama and demonstrates that you are registered with Alabama’s medical marijuana program. If you have purchased cannabis products from a dispensary, make sure to keep your medical marijuana card on you at all times.

4. Caregivers

Caregivers are individuals who can go to dispensaries and buy medical marijuana products on behalf of a patient. If you suffer from a medical condition that does not allow you to physically go to the dispensary, your designated caregiver is able to purchase products and administer them to you. For patients who are under the age of 19, it is required that their caregiver picks up their medication from the dispensary.
